TROPICAL RAINFORESTS & MANGROVES
DURATION: 4 hours
VENUE: Chek Jawa Wetlands
Take a break from the everyday classroom setting to immerse in nature. On this guided nature walk, students will get the opportunity to explore Singapore’s rainforests and mangroves. Spot wildlife such as crocodiles, monkeys, and other native species, and learn to recognise the different bird calls. Understand the importance of conservation and the preservation of their habitats. At the end of the tour, students should have a deeper understanding of sustainable forestry activities and how these practices help to maintain the balance of our natural environment.

Explore the Singapore City Gallery on a guided tour to further grasp the concepts of renewable and non-renewable natural resources. Students will explore how human-centered activities can lead to environmental degradation and resource depletion. The tour will emphasise on the importance of sustainability for future generations through the 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover). Through interactive exhibits and guided discussions, students will gain a deeper understanding of how sustainable development practices can be incorporated into urban planning.

This activity highlights how Singapore’s housing policies have evolved to meet the needs of a growing population while addressing issues of sustainability and urbanisation.

VENUE: Pulau Ubin and Smith Marine
Embark on a rustic exploration of Pulau Ubin, starting with a scenic bumboat ride from Changi Ferry Terminal. Discover the laidback life of Pulau Ubin, a stark contrast to our urban city, and explore the island’s history and cultural heritage. Students will get to learn about Ubin’s natural beauty and biodiversity and enjoy a guided tour of the Malay Kampong. Lunch will be served at the floating restaurant of Smith Marine, one of the last remaining Kelongs in Singapore.
