A curated series of Learning Journeys in Singapore that enhances textbook teaching through out-of-classroom experiences. Specially created as a fun way of learning, the themes from our Educational Tours are based on MOE curriculum to aid educators in their learning programmes.

BOTANIC GARDENS
LEARNING JOURNEY

BIODIVERSITY (SCIENCE)

DURATION: 2 hours
VENUE: Botanic Gardens

Students will embark on a guided nature walk through the Botanic Gardens, where they will observe and collect samples of living things (plants, insects) and non-living things (rocks, soil) to understand the importance of Biodiversity. They will engage in group discussions to categorise and analyse their samples, understanding the significance of maintaining biodiversity for ecosystem balance and species interdependence. The tour concludes with a reflective discussion and Q&A session to solidify their understanding and encourage critical thinking.

Tactile Learning
Handling and categorising samples of plants, insects, rocks, and soil during the nature walk and poster creation.
Visual Learning
Observing the diverse flora and fauna in the Botanic Gardens and creating visual representations of their findings.

MARINA BARRAGE & GARDENS BY THE BAY LEARNING JOURNEY

CYCLES, SYSTEMS, ENERGY (SCIENCE)

DURATION: 2 hours
VENUE: Marina Barrage & Gardens by the Bay (outdoor garden only)

Understanding cycles helps predict events and processes around us. This tour will allow the students to visit Marina Barrage to observe water management and the water cycle in action. They will learn about the components and stages of the water cycle, such as evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, through direct observation and simple experiments. By witnessing the practical applications of water management, students will gain a deeper understanding of how cycles work and their importance in our daily life.

Engaging in hands-on experiments, such as water evaporation and condensation, allowing students to physically manipulate materials and observe changes.
Visual Learning
Observing the different stages of the water cycle and water management processes at Marina Barrage, supported by diagrams and real-life examples.

HAJI LANE STREET ART
LEARNING JOURNEY

SELF & IMMEDIATE ENVIRONMENT (ARTS)

DURATION: 2 hours
VENUE: Haji Lane

Students will explore their immediate environment to discover where art can be found in everyday settings. They will observe street art, sculptures, and installations, and discuss how natural and man-made elements influence and inspire local artists’ creativity and artwork. Through guided discussions and interactive activities, students will learn to appreciate the connection between art and the environment, gaining insights into how artists interpret and reflect their surroundings through their art.

SINGAPORE RIVER
LEARNING JOURNEY

SINGAPORE PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE (ARTS)

DURATION: 2 hours
VENUE: Singapore River

Visit key locations around Singapore to explore how art is woven into the fabric of the city’s public space. Students will get to take a walk along the Singapore River, discovering public sculptures and murals that tell stories of Singapore’s past and present. The tour will also cover the Bras Basah Bugis precinct, known for its vibrant street art and historical landmarks. Through guided discussions and observational learning, students will gain insights into how art reflects Singapore’s cultural identity, historical events, and societal changes.

Engaging with interactive public installations that allow students to touch and feel different textures and materials used in artworks.

THE ART OF EXPRESSION

DURATION: 2 hours
VENUE:  Singapore River (opposite Fullerton Hotel)

Enhance verbal and non-verbal communication skills of students in this practical educational experience that is conducted in an iconic urban setting. This Speech & Drama learning journey involves fun activities such as role-playing, narration and charades, which focuses on communication and presentation techniques, theatrical skills, and body language. Young minds get to build confidence and develop essential competencies for effective communication, while learning about the evolution of occupations along the Singapore River.

LEARNING PEDAGOGY

Engage in role-playing and interactive exercises to practice communication and body language in a dynamic outdoor environment.
Visual Learning
